Hall Park playground
equipment for replacement as its fundraising project for 2008. The playground is more than 20 years
old and lacks many of the amenities (such as strength building features, and equipment designed to
combat obesity) of other recently installed playgrounds in the City, such as Northwest Park. The sub-
committee's fundraising goal for this project is $100,000. The funds being raised in the community
will be held at the Greater Everett Community Foundation and will be transferred to the City once the
funds have been raised. The total estimated project cost is $250,000, and includes installation of
sidewalks, new drainage, curbing,ADA accessibility, contingency and sales tax. Prior to initiating a
public process for fundraising and community input regarding equipment selection, staff requests City
Council authorize a funding ordinance to utilize$150,000 in CIP 3 funds to match the$100,000 being
raised within the community through donations and grants.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): Adopt the proposed ordinance creating a
special improvement project entitled"Walter E.
