EVERETT PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT <br />BOARD OF PARK COMMISSIONERS MEETING <br />Tuesday, December. 11, 2007 <br />6:OOPM <br />City of Everett Planning Hearing Room <br />Wall Street Building <br />The Everett Parks & Recreation Board of Park Commissioners met in the <br />Planning Hearing Room at the Wall Street Building on Tuesday, December 11, <br />2007at 6:OOPM. <br />Chairperson Mary Jane Anderson called the meeting to order at 6:OOPM. <br />PARK COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Mary Jane Anderson, Dianne Riter, <br />Kathryn Goforth and Des Skubi. <br />COUNCIL LIAISON EXCUSED: Brenda Stonecipher <br />EXCUSED: Randy Ayers and Shannon Affholter. <br />PARK STAFF PRESENT: Paul Kaftanski, John Peterson, Jeff Price, and Sue <br />Stimson. <br />ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES— minutes from September 11, October 9, 2007 <br />and November 13, 2007 were reviewed. Mary Jane moved to accept all minutes, <br />Dianne seconded, motion carried. <br />APPEARANCE OF INTERESTED CITIZENS— Katrina Legalle representing the <br />Riverside Neighborhood and tree committee reported vandalism in Garfield Park <br />resulting in burn damage to the slide. The park watch group distributed flyers <br />asking that information be sent to the police department. Katrina reported that <br />the park watches have stepped up and that they have recently dealt with kids <br />with air guns. She added that the park watch group is easily identifiable by the <br />Garfield Park Watch hats that they wear. Mary Jane commented that we <br />appreciate the work of this active group. Paul also commented that this is a <br />newly renovated park, and we greatly appreciate the neighborhood presence. <br />We appreciate Katrina and neighbors as they do a wonderful job and partner well <br />with us. Mary Jane added that she often uses Garfield as an example of a good <br />partnership experience. It is possible that block grant money might go towards <br />security cameras. Katrina closed by adding that the Starbucks grant went <br />towards the artwork project which is going well. <br />CORRESPONDENCE—Reviewed note from citizen Winifred Crowley regarding <br />the walking trail at Lowell Riverside Park. Paul commented that he has spoken <br />with her, she is doing fine and our staff will look into the pavement surface of the <br />trail. <br />
