The event will be held on May 31,2008 from 8 a.m.to 8 p.m. The Seattle <br /> Outboard Association's regatta has been annually held on Silver Lake since 1954. The Parks Board of Commissioners <br /> conducted a public hearing at its March 11,2008 and April 8,2008 meetings for this year's proposed regatta. The <br /> public hearing was advertised in The Daily Herald. Notices were posted in the parks system. No one spoke in <br /> opposition to the event. <br /> The City Council has historically approved the Association's request to hold this event on Silver Lake.This is the <br /> only event of this type held at Silver Lake during the year.The Parks Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to <br /> recommend to Council that the Seattle Outboard Association's application to hold its annual Boating Regatta on <br /> Silver Lake May 31, 2008 be approved. <br /> The Association rents Silver Hall for the day; cleans up the beach area,playground and parking lot after the <br /> event; provides, at its own cost, standby medical services, rescue boat and course flagging. Parks provides a <br /> ranger on duty for a six-hour period.
