An additional 6 hours are needed to provide unmet services for <br />seniors. Currently, the social worker is unable to serve some people. In the past few years <br />there has been an increasing need for social work services. More seniors are using the services <br />offered, and more hours for seniors are needed for services such as placing more people into <br />housing and increased counseling around the complicated Medicare system. Six additional hours <br />per week will add $6,084 to the budget. <br />Reduce Ending Fund Balance 009 5980000490 6,084 <br />Increase Professional Svcs budget - Sr. Center 027 5500000410 6,084 <br />The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Grants and Training (OGT) is providing <br />funds to enhance the capability of state and local units of government to prevent, deter, <br />respond to and recover from incidents of terrorism through the FFY2007 Homeland Security <br />Grant program, State Homeland Security Program (SHSP). The funding of $51,200 is being <br />provided to continue wages for the current City Homeland Security Planner position through <br />2008 and into 2009. There are no local match requirements for this grant. <br />On January 23, 2008, City Council and the Mayor accepted the contract award of $51,200. The <br />contract end date is September 30, 2009. <br />Note: This position is already included in the 2008 budget. This grant was anticipated, but not <br />certain and not budgeted.
