An additional 6 hours are needed to provide unmet services for seniors. Currently, the social worker is unable to serve some people. In the past few years there has been an increasing need for social work services. More seniors are using the services offered, and more hours for seniors are needed for services such as placing more people into housing and increased counseling around the complicated Medicare system. Six additional hours per week will add $6,084 to the budget. Reduce Ending Fund Balance 009 5980000490 6,084 Increase Professional Svcs budget - Sr. Center 027 5500000410 6,084 The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Grants and Training (OGT) is providing funds to enhance the capability of state and local units of government to prevent, deter, respond to and recover from incidents of terrorism through the FFY2007 Homeland Security Grant program, State Homeland Security Program (SHSP). The funding of $51,200 is being provided to continue wages for the current City Homeland Security Planner position through 2008 and into 2009. There are no local match requirements for this grant. On January 23, 2008, City Council and the Mayor accepted the contract award of $51,200. The contract end date is September 30, 2009. Note: This position is already included in the 2008 budget. This grant was anticipated, but not certain and not budgeted. The purpose of this amendment is to recognize this grant award in the budget.
