• <br /> B. The National Electrical Code is hereby amended by deleting the following: <br /> ARTICLE 700-12. SOURCES OF POWER - EMERGENCY SYSTEMS <br /> (c) Emergency systems <br /> (d) Separate Service: Where acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction, <br /> a second service shall be permitted. This service shall be in accordance <br /> with Article 230, with separate service drop or lateral, widely separated <br /> electrically and physically from the normal service to minimize the <br /> possibility of simultaneous interruption of supply. <br /> (e) Connection Ahead of Service Disconnecting Means: Where acceptable <br /> to the authority having jurisdiction, connections ahead of, but not within, <br /> the main service disconnecting means shall be permitted. The <br /> emergency service shall be sufficiently separated from the normal main <br /> service disconnecting means to prevent simultaneous interruption of <br /> supply through an occurrence within the building or groups of buildings <br /> served. <br /> Section 4: Each of the codes and regulations adopted by reference in Section 2 of <br /> this ordinance is hereby amended by the addition of the following: <br /> It is expressly the purpose of this Code to provide for and promote the health, <br /> safety and welfare of the general public, and not to create or otherwise establish <br /> or designate any particular class or group of persons who will or should be <br /> especially protected or benefited by the terms of this Code. <br /> It is the specific intent of this Code to place the obligation of complying with <br /> these regulations upon the permit applicant and any person owning or <br /> controlling any building or structure within its scope and no provision nor any <br /> term used in this Code is intended to impose any duty whatsoever upon the City <br /> or any of its officers, employees or agents, for whom the implementation or <br /> enforcement of this Code shall be discretionary and not mandatory. <br /> Nothing contained in this Code is intended to be nor shall be construed to create <br /> or form the basis for any liability on the part of the City or its officers, <br /> employees or agents, for any injury or damage resulting from the failure of a <br /> building to comply with the provisions of this Code, or by reason or in <br /> consequence of any inspection, notice, order, certificate, permission or approval <br /> authorized or issued or done in connection with the implementation or <br /> enforcement of this Code, or by reason of any action or inaction on the part of <br /> the City related in any manner to the implementation or the enforcement of this <br /> Code by its officers, employees or agents. <br /> 7 <br />
