The scheduled <br /> improvements/upgrades include a new playground area, half-court basketball area, benches,picnic tables, <br /> improvements to the turf areas to meet the communities' need for multi-purpose open space, new and wider <br /> paths to promote walking and an inclusive park environment, and improvements to path locations and <br /> planting areas to promote healthier natural areas in the park, sustainability and provide opportunities to <br /> explore and enjoy such areas. <br /> Fund 354 expenditures to date total $12,594.25 for design services by Harmsen &Associates. Up to an <br /> additional $150,000 including sales tax is allocated for the cost of the new playground area. Firms that design <br /> and develop playgrounds will submit proposals that will be discussed with residents of the Pinehurst-Beverly <br /> Park neighborhood prior to proposal evaluation and award recommendation. <br /> Based upon the renovation's cost estimate, additional funds will be required to construct the master plan. <br /> (The project's funding ordinance was approved in 2005 prior to the initiation of master planning.) <br /> RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): Authorize Call for Bids for the Lions Park <br /> Renovation Project. <br /> 6 <br />
