The scheduled improvements/upgrades include a new playground area, half-court basketball area, benches,picnic tables, improvements to the turf areas to meet the communities' need for multi-purpose open space, new and wider paths to promote walking and an inclusive park environment, and improvements to path locations and planting areas to promote healthier natural areas in the park, sustainability and provide opportunities to explore and enjoy such areas. Fund 354 expenditures to date total $12,594.25 for design services by Harmsen &Associates. Up to an additional $150,000 including sales tax is allocated for the cost of the new playground area. Firms that design and develop playgrounds will submit proposals that will be discussed with residents of the Pinehurst-Beverly Park neighborhood prior to proposal evaluation and award recommendation. Based upon the renovation's cost estimate, additional funds will be required to construct the master plan. (The project's funding ordinance was approved in 2005 prior to the initiation of master planning.)
