C)
d..
ENGINEERING/PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT
E
May 13, 2008
RE: Fourth of July Event at Legion Park
Dear Resident:
The City of Everett is developing plans for the Fourth of July celebrations this
year at Legion Memorial Park. The Everett Naval base has graciously hosted prior
events for our community, but is not able to do so this year because of
construction. Legion Park was selected for this community event after extensive
search of the available venues throughout the city.
The City will be closing Alverson Boulevard, Wetmore Avenue, and Rockefeller
Avenue north of 5th Street to through traffic on the Fourth of July. Residents and
their guests will be allowed to enter and leave the area, but the general public will
be asked to use other routes for the safety of the public attending this community
event. Alverson Boulevard north of Legion Park will be closed at 6 AM for event
set up. Roadways north of 5th Street will be closed at noon. The roadway will
reopen after the event around midnight. Everett Transit will be offering free bus
shuttles from Everett Station and Everett Community College Station for this
event.
We know this event will have a big impact to the community and you. We would
like your help making this event safe, enjoyable, and successful. A map of the
street closure plan is enclosed for your information. Please review the proposed
plan. Please contact Dongho Chang at (425) 257-8871 or Carol Thomas at (425)
257-7101 if you have any concerns and suggestions.
6
