These signals typically use 135-watt light bulbs for the
yellow/green traffic signal displays and 69-watt light bulbs for the pedestrian signals.
As part of its energy conservation program, the Snohomish County PUD is offering the City an incentive
to replace the incandescent green and pedestrian light bulbs with Light Emitting Diodes (LED's). The
incentive to the City amounts to roughly 54%of the replacement cost($232,078.08), a two-year payback
through reduced electric bills(because of reduced electrical usage), and longer signal service life(LED's
last about 7-10 years).
The funding sources for this bulb replacement project are:
Snohomish County PUD $ 232,078.08
Fund 009—General Gov.
