Erosion Control Risk Assessment
Slope Soil Tvne and Relative Risk of Erosion:
The development area of the parcel slopes from W to E at a slope of
approximately 7%, piacing the parcel into the moderate-risk category 2-8%) for
erosion due to slope. Soil type for the development area is Alderwood, belonging
to hydrologic group "C". This soil type category places the site into the
moderate-risk category. The parcel itself is well vegetated with second-growth
forest and underbrush at this time, and there is no indication of erosion problems.
Location of Critical Areas 1 Resources to be Protected:
There is a Type IV stream running west-to-east through the center of the
property, and associated wetlands have been delineated along the stream. The
stream and wetland will be protected by buffer and NGPAE areas.
Location of Fish-Bearinq Streams or Lakes, and Risk:
There are no fish-bearing streams or lakes near the property.
Potential for Slides or Ground Movement:
There is no risk of slide potential within the proposed development area, since
the site is moderately sloped. If deep excavations are made, there is a risk of a
small-area localized cave-in into the excavation during construction due to sandy
soils.
Sources of Water for Erosion:
The existing source of water for erosion on the buildable portion of the site is only
from rainfall falling on the site.
Water Qualitv Measures and BMP's to Controi Erosion:
The main future risk for erosion will be during the time of construction when land
is disturbed to build driveways and homes. BMP's will include, but not be limited
to, the use of silt fences/interception trenches along construction cuts.
Vegetation wili be preserved wherever possible, but in areas where vegetation is
disturbed, the areas will be hydroseeded as soon as construction is completed.
Statement of Overall Risk:
The overall risk of erosion to this site is moderate due to the soil type (hydrologic
group "C") and to slopes 2-8%. The potential for water quality degradation is
aiso moderate.
( `
