there may have been streambed obstruction downstream of the culverts that
could have caused some backwater problems for the culverts. Our recent field
observations did find that there is significant vegE+tative growth and channel
obstruction immediately downstream of the twin 1?" culverts at the present time.
Downstream:
Note: Additional information pertaining to the downstream drainage system is
provided on a drawing on the next page.
The downstream drainage channel consists of a meandering ditch that proceeds
south from the subdivision site. In some locations the channel was well-
manicured and the channel sides had been mowed and cleared. In other areas,
the homeowners had allowed the stream area to become weedy. We did not see
any indication of flooding and/or erosion along the channel. The channel
proceeds south and crosses under 106th Street through a 24" culvert, then it
continues southward until it crosses Holly Drive through another 24" culvert. On
the South side of Holly Drive, the channel continues into a heavily forested area
and proceeds south until it eventually joins with Swamp Creek. The channel is
heavily vegetated and partially obstructed immediately south of the twin 12" pipes
near the south side of the project site, but the remainder of the channel route had
no blockages.
