10. The City shall insure safety on trails which use roadways and sidewalks by using, where <br /> possible, physical barriers, lane striping, directional signage, grade separations, and other <br /> means as appropriate. <br /> 11. Trails shall be incorporated as an integral part of the roadway in new road proposals, <br /> wherever possible. <br /> 12. The City shall enhance pedestrian circulation currently provided by the sidewalk system. <br /> Such enhancements may include signage, benches, distinctive paving, landscaping, and <br /> designated safe walking routes. <br /> 13. The City shall provide trail routes which minimize street crossings; where practical, and <br /> when such crossings are necessary, appropriate signals and/or crosswalks should be installed <br /> to insure safety. <br /> 14. Planning for park and ride facilities shall include provisions for bicycle and pedestrian <br /> access, including trail heads, sufficient bicycle parking, secure bike racks, and informational <br /> signage relating to the City's trail system. <br /> 15. The design, construction and maintenance of trail facilities shall minimize obstructions. <br /> 16. Barrier free access to all trail facilities shall be used, whenever appropriate. <br /> 17. Trail Corridors should be incorporated as either linear parks or greenbelt areas, to provide <br /> valuable additions to open space. <br /> 18. Trails shall be separated from incompatible uses, wherever possible, through physical or <br /> vegetative buffers. <br /> 19. Trail linkages shall be provided wherever possible to enhance circulation, and to link parks, <br /> open spaces, and environmentally sensitive areas. <br /> 20. Trails shall not be located where hazardous conditions are present(i.e., unstable slopes). <br /> 21. Interpretive signs along trails in environmentally sensitive areas shall serve to increase <br /> ecosystem awareness. <br /> 22.
