Thi.s acceptance is in no way meant to change the recent policy wh?ch vras developed by the Engineering Department which does not allow private pressure mains in the right of way. Acceptance of the force main in this partict�lar case is based oii the following cir- cumstances: 1. The Port ef P:verett was given verbal permission for the force main several months ago during their design of the project and at a time when we were allo�ring private f�rce mains in rights of way. 2. There is an existing sewer main in the street adjacent to the projecl, however, any sewage connected to it is discharged into the ri �er and the llepartment oF Fcology will not aliow us to approve any n�.w con- nections to it. ; 3. The City is currently involved in a study which is developing solutions to sewering this area and transporting it to the sewage treatment plant. This study will result in staLe ard federal grants for �JO% of the costs of the solutions. The grants are expected to be approved for design and construction within two years. 4. The Port of �verett is a public agency witl; �vhom �ve can make agreements regarding sewer service. 5. The Port of �verett has agreed that this force main is a temporary sewer service and that it will he used only until the new sewers are constructed. cc: Lloyd T'.
