.,,,anon neignts
Jim Piz -le
June 17, 1097
Roger Schmidt
Prudential
As 1 stated in the memo which I faxed to you earlier this morning,
I do not thinic it .is productive for me to continue to respond to
the lncluities of Ted Thomas
projeet, relative to the condition of the
a more It is In the beat interests of all to keep this thing on
It
basis and in writints. I haven't been calling Ted but
he has been calling me and I have tried to be cooperative, I will
real nue that cooperative effort when It comes through you as his
real estate ascot. Aelly would like for the same thing to apply as
far as contact which you have to be made to him, Just funnal it
through me and I willget a response.
On the deal with Ted's concerns about the roads, we had a plan. I
felt it was an agreed plan. I was to write a 2etter to Larry
chan
ing of
forma.liaeUxpluhatiniw' theenhadhprevioUsly agreed,gsorthatdTedhhad a current
record. On his own, he charged off on a different tangent and made
direct contact. with Larry Crawford. Fortuitously, I forgot to mail
the letter which I had typed to Crawford. It would have made it to
his office in the Monday mail and probably to his desk about the
time Ted wAs showing UP or maybe after. I believe that letter
would hive Wet off a time -bomb in which Larry would have felt
someone was truing to sandbag him. But it didn't go out, On
Monday, Ted called and said he had a meeting scheduled with
Crawford in a cuuple of hours and could Z attend. I could not bUt
said I could do it another dayeven though the Idea was baffling
to me based on what had been discussed. was his input, so he went to the meeting.Couldn't happen that way
I, franJcly, do not believe that Larry Crawford came up with any
info that is different Prom what I said be different from What .i9 on th.. had agreed to and anyit• I have reviewed plane. I could he wrong, but I doubt
the correspondence leading to this point and
fr.el ve Y comfortable about, what has been clone. There could be
some minor misl.r,tvrpretation, but I doubt anything of any
consequence,
It Is a truism that with some skillful effort, the whole thing could
have been sr_rewed-up by charting into Lorry Crawford's office. But
don't blame Holly and me if such has happened. We had a rational
plan. With no input, Ted took the thing into his own control and
Ignored what we felt, and no one said anything to the contrary, was
a reasonable way to bring the thoughts on the questions into the
current time frame. A commont given tf, RellY was that Larry's
Input on Monday added $200,000 to the coat estimate of what had
been previous.iy Shown. That is simply not believable.
BRLIrVASLP.
