This report
presents the results of our field exploration, selective laboratory testing, ad engineering
analyses. The purpose and scope o( our swdy were ouUined in our Apiii 23, 2002
proposal.
Based on the results of our field exploration, the descending slope on the north side of tiie
residence contains up to eight feet of very loose to loose fili and native soil. An existing
retaininc wall constructed along the top of the descendinc s'ope and several deck supports
on the northeast side of the residence have exhibited settlement and lateral movements.
The existing residence was constructed in 1989, and it is our understanding the retaining
wall was constructed around Ue time of the residence. The wall offset and setdement
were present in 2000 when purchased by the currer; property owners.
Tlie descending slope appears to be marginally stable and tlie existiny very loose to loose
fill and native soils will likely continue to settle and "creep" downslope. Due to the lateral
movements exhibited by the existing timber retaining wall, it is our opinion the wall has
failed and siiould be replaced. Foundation support for tlie existinc deck posts sliould also
be reestablished. Several alternatives for repairing and stabilizinc the existing fill area are
presented in this report.
H05 13Gth Place N.E . Suite 201.
