Thomas/Lane
concluded that commercial aviation at Paine Field was feasible and would have minimal traffic and environmental
impacts. The Study indicates demand generated by employment, population and income in the Paine Field market is,
and will be, more than sufficient to support commercial aviation service. The introduction of a modest level of
scheduled commercial air service at Paine Field would provide regular, predictable and accessible air travel to regional
destinations. The Study concludes that the primary benefits of commercial air service will be job generation and
retention, the attraction to the region of high technology and knowledge-based firms, growth in the tourism industry,
new management and technological job creation, increased sales, property and business &occupation taxes; and
significant time/cost savings for travelers using Paine Field.
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt a resolution accepting the findings of the Thomas/Lane and
Associates Feasibility and Impacts of Scheduled Commercial Air Service at Paine Field
Study and support scheduled commercial air service at Paine Field. ra
, 7
