 .
r'*
.J _ . , ... . ' . : - , -' I
,'
November 1, 197i
Iteid Shockey, City Planner
CiCy of Everett
City Aall
Everet[, Washington 98201
i
Dear Re1d,
This is a follow up to my letter of August 9, 1974. In that letter
I stated our desire to purchase the house at the corner of 46th and
Alger and outlined how we plannPd on utilizing it. SuUsequent to
the letter we did receive some objections to our in[ended use from
a neighhor nearUy and a statement from a member of the Planning
Commission that wc would have to seek a variance. This has caused
us to alter our plans.
Ac I stated in my letter, we wanted to avoid estaUlishin a variance
because it would liave eet what we felt would be an undesirable
precedence in the residential neighborhood bordcring [his campus. In i
this we felt that we wanted to act in the best interest of our neighUors.
Because of this we will not purchase the house referred to and will
not use it to establish any progr.am. I feel that this is regretable
in terms of serving the needs of peopla who are attempting to make
an adjustment to the community since it is very difficult to find a
suitable neighborhood [hat will tol.erate such a program. Por the
most part people in [his neighborhood have been most understanding
and helpful. The exception, however, caused our undoing.
Pffective October 15, 1974 ive have signed a six (6) months 1Pase for 1
the property at 920 - h6th Street with the ownere. 47e will use this
property for two purposes. One, is to furnish quarters for staff
who are responsihle for supervision of the chil.dren at niht. Prior
to this time they have had apartment space at the Broadmore. Secondly,
we will use the lower portion of the house for dead s[orage. [de
have had space problems on the campus, particularly f.inding room to
store such items as parts, lumber, tools and spare furniture. Dty
understanding is that we may use the house in a residentialJ.v zoned
area for these purpuses. '
This letter will be shared with the immediate neighbors. If you have
furCher questions or comment please let me knoa.
ScerelY,
.
;.li;i;'((i,,';"t %/l/'✓- U' <_
Ronald .
