This inspaction <br /> was limited to the exiting problems throughout the apartment complex, with the <br /> intent of begir.ning a process resulting in a resolution of the l.ife safety a�:�1 <br /> firefighting problems inherent in these structures. <br /> The followinq code provisions apply to these problems: <br /> 1. The 1938 Unifurm Fire Code, Article 1, Section 1.103(b) states "The <br /> provisions of tliis code shall apply to e�isting conditions as welJ. as to <br /> conditions arising after the adoption thereof, except that conditio�s <br /> legally in existence at the adoptior� of this code and not in strict <br /> canpliance theredith shall be permitted to continue only if, in the <br /> opinion of the chief, they do not constitute a distinct hazard to life or <br /> property." <br /> 2. The 1986 Uniforn Fire Code, Article 2, Section 2.201(b) , states "All <br /> buildings or st^uctures which are structurally unsafe or not provided <br /> with adequate 2oress, or which constitute a fire hazard or are otherwise <br /> dange:ous to hunan life, or which in relation to existing use constitute <br /> a hazard to safety er health or public welfare, by reason of inadequate <br /> maintenance, dilapidation, obsolesr.ence, fire hazard, disaster damage or <br /> abandonment as specified in this code or any other effective ordinance, <br /> are, fer the purpose of ttiis section, unsafe buildinys.
