There appears to be a typographical error on the
plan, specificaliy plate #3 where the "Miragrid 18XT" is called out for on wall heights 9- 11.5'. We believe it to be a
typographical error because there is no product "Mirafi, Miragrid 18XT".
1Ne understand that the engineer of record, Liu & Associates, is unavailable at this time to clarify the plans, and we have
teen asked to make a"Best Interpretation" of them. So, based on our exensive history of supplying materials to similar
projects we presume that the product should have been listed as "Miragrid 10XT', which would make sense for the height
of wall, type of fascia, and lift height. We are not an engineering firm, and do not imply that we have done an engineered
analysis of the project, but we have supplied many similar projects and have never had the occasion to supply a grid
stronger than the Miragrid 10XT on walls that do not exceed 12'.
Attached is a copy of the standard data sheet for the Miragrid 10XT. Also attached are the Washington State Department
of Transportation Qualified Products List, which lists the Miragrid 10XT, and the Washington State Department of
Transportation Standard Plan D-3 for Geosynthetic Retaining Walis. You will note that the full Long Term Allowable
Design Strength (LTDS 4,180 Iblft, as listed on the WSDOT QPL) of the Miragrid 10XT would not be required even when
the design height of wall (per Standard Plan D-3) reached 35' (LTDS 2,580 Ib/ft required on type VI wall, 1.25' lift).
I hope that this is helpful in determining the acceptabili?y uf the Miragrid 10XT. Please let me know if 1 could be of further
assistance.
Benjamin C. Nelson
ACF West Inc., Woodinville office
(425) 415-6115 office
(206) 730-0596 cell
