The following recomnendations should be adhered to
in preparing the site for foundation placement.
1) The excavated area (see attached sheet) shall be ditched and
drained of as much ground water as possible before any fill is to
be placed. All saturated soil shall be removed from the excavated
area to expose the glacial till.
2) After the area h3s been drained, a free draining coarse granular
sandy gravel or gravelly sand imported fill shall be placed in 8 to
12 inch lifts and compacted by to a minimum of 95° relative density.
The imported fill shall have less than 5 silts and clays and be
placed directly upon the undisturbed glacial till.
3) A 6 inch perforated underdrain pipe shall be placed in the first
layer of imported fill enveloped with 12 inciies of pea gravel as
detailed on the design sketch to aid removal of groundwater.
4) Successive layers of imported and compacted fill shall be placed
to bring the fill to final grade; the total depth of fill will
be aproximately 6 to 8 feet.
ENGINEERS • SURVEYORS • PLANNERS
9800 EVERGREEN WAV (U.S. 991.
