Geotechnical Engineering Report
. _ 51 17 23"Ave W
January 2, 2009
RMl Filc No. 50909
1'ag9
This report is issued with the unarsanding that it is the responsibility of the owner or his representative
to ensure that the infortna[ion and recommendations contained in this report are called to the attention of
al! concerned parties and incorporated into the plans and that the necessary steps are taken tn see that the
contractors or subcontractors carry out such recommendations in the field.
All pcople who own or occupy homes on or below hillsides should realize that landslide movements are
always a possibility, although the likclihood is low that such an event will actually occur. The landowner
should periodiailly inspect the slope, especially after a winter storm. If distress is evident, a geotechnical
engineer shoi:ld be contacted for advice oa remedial/preventative measures. The probability that
landsliding will occur is substantially reduced by the proper maintenance of drainage measures at the
site. Therefore, the homcowner should recognize the responsibility for performing 5uch maintenance.
Consequendy, we recommend lhat a copy of our report be provided to any future homeowners of the
property if the home is sold.
We suggest that we provid observation of the earthwork phases of any proposed construction project.
This should include grading, foundation construction, and aetbacks, drainage inctallation, and erosion
control measures. Although we expect sitc geology, soil types, conditions, and distributions to be as
discussed herein, some variations in subsurface conditions could occur. Should conditions other than
those discussed above be encountered, the gcotechnical consultant should be notified for review and
commenL Additional or alternative recommendations may be required.
USE OF THIS REPORT
This report is thc properly of RMI ASSOCIATES LLC and has been prepared for Ms. Mei Yang and
hcr agents for use in planning and desi of this project on this site only. The data and report should be
provided to prospective contractors for thcir bidding and estimating purposes, but our report, conclusions
and interpretatiuns should not bc construed as a wartanry of subsudace conditions. At the time of this
report, final plans werc not available. We recommend that we Le retained to review final plans prior to
the start of construction to check for conformance with the recommendations in this report.
1'hc scope of our work does not include services related to construction safety precautions, and our
rccommcndations arc not intcndcd to direct the contnctors' methods, techniques, sequences or
procedures, except as specifically descrihed in ow report for consideration in design.
