The subject wooden retaining wall is located about six (6)feet beyond lhe concrete slab at <br /> the rear of the homes. The ground surface between the concrete siab and the wooden retaining <br /> wall has settles approximately four (4) tc. �ive (5) inches probably due to settlement of the soft filI <br /> in this area and probably the outward movement of the retaining wall. Currentiy, the easterly half <br /> of the site is encumbered by a steep slope which requires a 25-fool buffer from the top of slope <br /> to a structure. The er.isting retaining wall to be replaced is within the subject huffer. There is no other reasonabie use or feasible alternative to the proposed <br /> development with less impact on the environmentally sensitive area. <br /> Findi�qs: The Applicant has submitted a Geotechnical Engineering Report on the "Proposed <br /> Retaining Wall for 5117 ?3`' Avenue West, Everett, Washington" which h2s been reviewed and <br /> acproved by the City's Public Works Department. This report presents the results of a <br /> geotechnical engineering studies for the retain�ng wall at 5117 23rd Avenue West, Everett, <br /> Washington as shown on the Vicinity map (Figure 1). The property has a steep slope in the rear <br /> oi the home. A wooden retaining wall exists about 6 feet beyond the concrete slab at the rear ef <br /> the home and you wish to �eplace it with a more permanent structure. The ground surface <br /> between the concrete s:ab and the wooden retaining wall has settled about four (4) to five (5) <br /> inches probably due to seitlement of the soft fill in this area and probably outward movement of <br /> the retaining wall. NOTE: The slope is al about 41 degrees which is auproximately the angle of <br /> repose of lhe till soils ar�cl is about 100 feet high. Currently, the easterly half of the site is <br /> e��cumbered by a steep siop which requires a 25-foot buffer from the top of slope to a structure. <br /> � � <br />
