The Everett Municipal Code requires all property owners within 150 feet or adjacent to a public sanitary sewer shall connect their private sewer system to the public sewer after being notified by the City of Everett Public Works Department. Our records also indicate that your property is adjacent to, or is within 150 feet of an existing public sanitary sewer. I have enclosed an excerpt from our sanitary sewer chart indicating the proximity of your property to a public sanitary sewer system. Any costs to connect, including constr:action and monthly sewer service charges, is to be borne by the property owner. If you believe your residence or business is currently connected to the City's sewer main, please contact the City of Everett Public VVorks Department at 425-257-8800 so we can update our records. A sewer permit and application issued by the City and signed by an inspector is one viable means of proof. Another alternative to prove the structure is connected to the sewer system is to allow the City of Everett to perform a dye test. A dye test requires the owner's permission and the residenYs notification to allow a city employee to enter the premises and flush dye into the toilet. In a short amount of time the colored water will appear in the sewer main if the residence is hooked up to the sewer system. In the event y�u are not currently connected to the sewer and wish to delay connection, the City engineer may, on written request from the property owner, extend the tirr�e to connect to the public sewer for a period of up to a maximum of 10 y�ars; provided that, at the property owner's expense, the Snohomish Health District cenifies, in writing, to the Public Works Departmeiit that the existing sewage system is operatiunal. The Snohomish Health District can be contacted at 425-339-5250; ask for the Wastewater Division. To request a waiver, please return the enclosed form.
