'` PUBLy:L IYO/IU'.
,.
,..
_ _ November 5, 1992
i=.::;a;; . -,
. , ,; .
Mr. Alan White, Director
Everett Housing Authority
1401 Poplar
Everett, WA 98201
Subject: Jodi Nance
Dear Mr. White:
It was recently brought to my attention by the City of Everett Fire Department that the house
, located at 3210 25th Street, Everett, was very hazardous, if not dangerous.
As the Housing Inspector for the City of Evertt, I proceeded to talk with the tenant, Jodi
Nance, who then allowed myself and the City of Everett Electrical Inspector, Tim Alaniz, to
perform inspections on the house.
Mrs. Nance is separated from her husband and has five children. The eldest of the children is
a girl who is 10 years old. Th boys are 8, 7, 4 and 3 years of age. They live in this one
bedroom house where the boys sleep in the bedroom on a bed. The daughter sleeps in the
living room on a couch and the mother sleeps on the floor. The owner charges $600 a month
rent for these accommodations.
During the inspection of the house it was noted that the owner had started to make corrections
to the electrical system in the house and never finished. There are bare wires sdcldng up out
of the floor, light switches, and oullets with bare wires exposed throughut the house. Winng
in the kitchen is shorting out in the switch for the overhead light. The owner has left these
dangerous conditions to exist for the past month. ,
If I post the house "Illegal to Occupy", the family has 72 hours to move out. Under the
circumstances, a single young woman with five young children and no where to go, it is
difficult to post the house even though there are dangerous conditions which threaten their
lives.
Any assistance the Everett Housing Authority can give in relocating this family would be of
great conseyuence to the health, safety and welfare of this family.
The name of the mother is Jodi Nance and they live 3t 3210 25th Street, Everett, Washington.
CITY OF EVERETT• 3200 Cedar Street • Everett,WA 98201 • (206) 259-8874 • Fax (206) 259-8883 `'
