Mr. Elmer Johnston
March 26, 1990
Page Four
A sketch map showing the appr-ximate location and size of the wetland has been
included. This map is for orientation purposes only and is not intended for
jurisdictional or site planning uses. An accurate map can b_ obtained by having
the wetland boundaries delineat%.d and flagged, and having the flagging surveyed
by a qualified surveyor.
SUMMARY
The field reconnaissance conducted on the Farrar property located on the west
side of Mukilteo Boulevard and south of 27th Avenue located one emergent marsh
wetland. The wetland appears to be seep associated. The City of Everett
classifies wetl':ds into three categories. Category I wetlands are those ten or
more acres in : .a and having three or more wetland classes, one of which is
open water; wetlands with a 40-60% open water vegetation ratio with tw or more
subclasses of vegetation; wetlands containing species listed as sensit)ve,
threatened, or endangered by state or federal agencies; or wetlands containing
plant associations of infrequent occurrence such as bogs or saltmarshes.
Category II wetlands are those wetlands other than Category I wetlands that meet
any of thefollowing criteria: wetlands larger than one acre, wetlands
containing three or more vegetation classes and equal to or less than one acre
in size, wetlands equal to or less than one acre that have a forested wetland
vegetation class, or wetlands that contain a species recognized as important by
the State or Washington. Category III wetlands are those which are equal to or
less than one acre in size and have two or fewer wetland vegetation classes.
According to the city's classification system, the wetland would likely be
considered a category III wetland and would probably require 35-foot buffers.
We appreciate the opportunity to prepare this material for you.
