Utilizing a large dozer (DO), the contractor spread recently placed/stockpiled
imported soils from the I lighway 9 widening site (bluish gray SILT to brownish gray silty SAND with few gravels) into Jo approxinntcly S-I'
loose lift and compacted the material via large vibratory roller. The compacted material was observed to be unyielding under the continued
wheel weight of truck/traile, assemblies. Further, the compacted soil was probed, with the full weight of the observer on n .5" diameter steel
T-probe, and proved fim✓unyielding with average penetrations of I". A series of in place density tests were conducted to confirm the specilied
minimum compaction (95%AS'I'M 1557). 'Ilse contractor was notified of all density results listed below. The contractor noted that some :veils
of fill to the immediate south appeared wcl upon import. 'Iliese areas, the contractor noted, would be further acraled to m/near optimum omiSnvc
condition before being compacted.
