Per recommendations made priorand utilizing a large dozer (D6), the contractor
spread/aerated recentlyplaced stockpiled imported soils from the Highway 9 widening site (bluish gray SILT to brownish gray silty SAND with
few gravels) into an approximately .5.l' loose IiR and compacted the material via large vibratory roller. The compacted material was observed
to be unyielding under the continued wheel weight of truck/trailer assemblies. Further, the compacted suit was probed, with the full weight of
the observer on a .5" diameter steel 'r-probe, and proved firm/unyielding with average penetrations of 2-3". A series of in place density tests
were conducted to confirm the specified minimum compaction (95% ASTb1 1557). The contractor was notified of all density results listed
below.
