Utilizing a large dozer(D6), the contractor spread/acrated recently placed stockpiled
imported soils from the Highway 9 widening site (bluish gray SILT to brownish gray silty SAND with few gravels) into an approximately.5-l'
loose lift and compacted the material via large vibratory roller. 'fire compacted material was observed to be unyielding under the continued
wheel weight of tmck/trailcr assemblies. Further, the compacted soil was probed, with the full weight of the observer on a .5" diameter steel T-
probe, and proved firm/unyielding with average penetrations of 2-3". A series of in place density tests were conducted to confirm the spec: fied
minimum compaction (95% ASTM 1557). The contractor was notified of all density results listed below. The contractor noted that he had
begun importing fill from a construction site ;a Burien and had stockpiled the material along the southern end of the site. The contractor further
noted that approximately 7,000 cubic yards of material would likely be brought in. AESI collected a soil sample of the material, at the
contractor's request. Laboratory results to follow.
