Utilizing a large dozer(Dh), the contractor spread/acmted recently placed stockpiled imported <br />soils from the Ilighway 9 widening site (bluish gray SILT to brownish gray silty SAND with few gravels) into tar approximately.5-1' louse lift <br />and compacted the material via large vibratory roller. The compacted material was observed to be unyielding under the continued wheel wcicht <br />ortmck/trailer assemblies. Further, the compacted soil was probed, with the full weight of the observer on a .5" diameter steel T-probe, and <br />proved firm/unyielding with. verage penetrations of 2". A series of in place density tests were conducted to confirm the specified minimum <br />compaction (95% ASTM 1557). The contractor was notified of all density results listed below.
