Utilizing a large dozer (D6), the contractor spread/aerated recemly placed stockpiled imported
soils from the Highway 9 widening site (bluish gmy SILT to brownish gray silty SAND with few gravels) into an approximately .5' loos: lift and
compacted the material, in a series of passes, via large vibratory roller. The compacted material was observed to be unyielding under the
continued wheel weight of uvek/nailer assemblies. Further, the compacted soil was probed, with the full weight of the observer on a .5"
diameter steel T-probe, and proved fimr/unyielding with average penetrations of 2". A series of in place density tests were conducted Io cunnrm
the specified minimum compaction (95% ASTM 1557). The contractor was notified of all density results listed below. The conr-nctur noted that
soil from a Mercer Island site was continuing to be imported and stockpiled near the central margins of the property. AESI collected soil
samples for laboratory analysis. Lab results to follow.
