Utilizing a Loge dozer (D6), the contractor spread recently stockpiled import soils from
a construction site in Mercer Island. As the import material appeared wet upon placement, the earthwork contractor elected to aerate the soils
prior to compaction. Based off current weather conditions and soil moisture content, the contractor expects to compact the material early next
week. Additionally, AESI noted the contractor had compacted previously spread "protective layer" soils near the NW portion of the site. The
soil (brown silty sand with gravel and trace delirious debris) was placed in a series of 8-12" loose [ins and compacted in a series of 4 passes with
a large vibratory roller. The compacted material was observed to be unyielding under the wheel weight of truckArailer assemblies and firm with
corresponding T-probe depths of 2". The 18" protective layer will continue to be performance evaluated as no compaction specification for the
material is required. See figure I for specific task location.
COP]FS TO: Distribution FIELD REP.: Jon D. Hansen, Sr Stiff Geologist
DATE PRINCIPAL I PM: Jon Sondergaaid, P.E.G
MAILED: SEP 2 s ZQ
