TO File
FROM Marian Payne, Housing Inspector AV/
DATE July 29, 1988
SUBJECT
1710 — 32nd Street,
Tenant Complaint
W
CITY OF EVERETT EVERETT WASHINGTON
On this date, the tenant of 1710 — 32nd Street called me and complained
" of the plumbing system in the upper unit leaking and causing damage to
the ceiling of the bedroom in the unit he occupied below.
Mr. Hulet, the tenant requested that I make an inspection at 10:00 a.m.,
I arrived at the premises and Mr. Hulet took me to the bedroom and
showed me the ceiling which appeared to be moist from water. He also
showed me water damage on another area of the ceiling but it appeared to
be from a previous leak and had since been repaired as the ceiling in
that area, opposite the most recent damage, was dry.
Mr. Holet then took me to the kitchen where he drew a glass of water
from the kitchen sink. The water was clear but Mr. Hulet said that it
was generally red and not fit for comsumption. I advised Mr. Hulet that
I could not make that determination, that the Health Officer was the
only one who could determine if the water was potable or ❑ot according
to the Uniform Housing Code which I enforce.
Mr. Hubet indicated that there were zoning problems and construction
problems and that he had talked with several city staff members in an
attempt to get these things corrected. Again, I advised him that I
could not make any determination on these items, the other staff members
had to follow up on his complaints.
4 3462G
