REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL
IN
RESPONSE TO CITIZEN QUESTION
BY
CRAIG HULET
September 14, 1988
HISTORY OF BUILDINGS:
There are two buildings on Lots 1 and 2, Block 766, Plat of
Everett, (see Exhibit 1) the property in question, which is
owned by Snohomish County Board of Realtors. Both buildings
were constructed as single family residences in the early 1900's
(see Exhibit 2).
ZONING:
The zoning is R-5, Core Area Residential. This zoning permits
residential uses, professional offices, and mixed uses. The
mined use would allow retail businesses and services serving
primarily the residents of the neighborhood as an accessory use
in a residential mixed use project if the property is on an
arterial street and as long as the gross floor area of the
combined retail uses does not exceed twenty-five percent of the
total gross floor area of the structure (see Exhibit 3).
DESCRIPTION OF BUILDINGS AND USES:
1710 32nd: The main floor and a portion of the basement are
currently occupied as a residence by Mr. and Mrs. Hulet. The
remainder of the basement (the former garage) is used as office
space by Senator Vognild, and the second floor is occupied as a
dwelling unit.
The structure was originally constructed as a single family
residence and there are no building permits in file to indicate
when the number of dwelling units was increased. Senator
Vognild began using the garage as office space when he was a
resident in the building in the early 1980's and has continued
to use the space for his office since he moved out of the
residential unit.
The property was purchased by Snohomish County-Camano Board of
Realtors in 1986 (see Exhibit 4).
01
