Per our meeting with Souheil, on December 16th, a stamped geotechnical report is required that
identifies the loading of the water main and measures that should be taken to protect that main.
Attached is the Granite's geotechnical engineer's evaluation of the crane loading on the water main and the
recommendations for protecting the water main. This evaluation was performed assuming the worst case
scenario where the crane outrigger is positioned directly above the water main. This will not be the case during
the pick, as it is expected that the outriggers will be off -set from the edge of the water main by at least 5 feet.
Also attached are the outrigger loads as estimated by Ness Cranes and the pothole information on the water main
that was performed in the presence of Randy Allen.
I will get you a hard copy of this report, with attachments and a Granite Northwest cover letter on Monday,
December 29th. As previously discussed, we are planning on performing the lest pick on January 9th and the
final pick of the bridge on January 12th.
Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the geotech's evaluation of the water main, please contact
me at your earliest convenience.
12/29/2008
