Dispatch advised a maroon colored SUV had struck a light pole and fire hydrant in
the parking lot before fleeing ihe area.
I arrived on scene assisted by Officer Ashley. I contacted witness Aaron W. Douglas. He reported a maroon
Chevrolet full size SUV with aftermarket rims was traveling westbound on 1 10"' St. SE. The vehicle veered o(f tlie
roadway towards the Chevron driveway on the south side of the property. The vehicle drove directly into a fire
hydrant and light pole ihat were anchored in cement on a dirt area bordering ihe parking lot. The vehicle caused
the fire hydrant to disconnect from its base, but no water was released. The liglit pole also disconnected from its
base. Douglas said the vehide quickly stopped, ihe driver exited and then reenlered his vehicle. The vehicle turned
around and left eastbound on 110"' SL SE. During ihis time the suspect vehicle was dragging the light pole it had
brought down. Douglas stated ihe vehicle momentarily pulled into the Safeway parking Iol, located at 11031 19"'
Avenue SE. Douglas had later checked the parking lot, but was unabie to find the missing liyht pole.
The gas siation clerk, Luana S. Asuncion, reported she heard a loud bany. She looked outside and saw a red SUV
with the light pole stuck underneath its chasss. The driver backed up as lhough attempting to release ihe light
pole. He then drove away eastbound on 11 G"' St. SE while it was dragged undereath the vehicle.
The suspect was described as a white male adult approximately 21 years old. He was around 6'2", 2251bs and had '
dark hair/feaWres. Asuncion slated the subjecl was a regular customer of the gas station and she could easily
recognize him. Dougas also stated I-,e would be able to identify the driver.
Officer Ashley assisted with an area check lor the vehicle and light pole. Neither of the two were able to be located.
It appeared the liyht pole had continued to been dragged a great distance. I obtained digital pictures of the damage
to the fire hydrant and light pole. In the parking lot I located a Chevrolet embiem from the suspect vehicie along
with other parts that appeared to be irom the vehicle's front light housinc. The pictures and physical evidence were
later impounded into evidence at the Soutl Precinct property room. Douglas and Asuncion both provided written
statemenL No (urther action was taken al this time.
I certily(or declareJ under penaly o!perjury under the laws o/fhe Stale of IYashingfon thaf Ihe foregaing Is frue and correcL (RCW 9AJ2.035.)
OFFICER SIGNATU DATE FORCE USED PURSUIT
- - D , Q YES ❑ NO I}C YES L NO I}(
OFFICER NAMFJNUMBER UNIT APPROVED BY:IPERS.NO.
C.
