PROJECT AND SITG CONDITIONS
 l.0 INTRODUCTION
This report presents the resul[s of our subsurface exploration and geoteclmical engineering
study for construction af a new Bartell llrue Srore at the Silver Lake Mal] located a[ 11010 19"
Avenue SG in Everelt, Washington (Figure 1). The new store would be located at die
northwest corner of tle intersection of 19' Avenue SE and ll2°i :itreet S£. The approximatc
locations of the borings compictcd for this study are shovn on }=iure 2, Site and Exploration
Plan. In the eventthat any chanesin the nature, design, orlocation ofthe proposed structure
are p(anned, the conclusions and recommendations containel in this rcport should Ue reviewed
and moditied, or verified, as necessary.
 I .1 Purpose and Scopc
'I'he purpose of tlis study was to provide subsurface data to be utilized in design and
construction of the new addition at the above-referenced site. Our smdy included a reviev of
available geologic literature, drilling two test borings, excavatiog 12 exploration pits, and
Performing geologic smdies to assess the type, thickness, distribution, and physical properties
of the suUsurface sediments and shalluw ground water conditions. Geotechnical engineering
studies were also conducted to determine allowable foundation soil bearing pressures, suitable
types of foundations, and recommendations for site preparation, drainage considerations, and
erosion controL This report summarizes our current fieldvork and offers geotechnical
engineering recommendatiuns bascd on our present understanding ofthe project.
1.2 Authorization
Vritten authorization to procced ith this study was granted by Mr. Chuck Ogden of Shotdal
Real Estate. Our sWdy was based on our visit to tle site and accomplished in generai
accordance aith our scope of vork letter dated October 22, 200d. The completion of
additional ezPloration pits was verbally approved by ir. Chuck O;den. This report has been
prepared for the esclusive use of Skotdal Real L-state and deir agents for specific application to
I', this project. Within the limitations of scope, schedule, and budeet, our services have been
perfurmed in accordance with generally accepted geotechnical engineerin and engineering
geology practices in effect in this area at the time our report was prepared. No other warranry,
expmss or implied, is made. Our observations, tindings, and opinions are a means to iden[ify
and reduce the inherent risks to the owner.
1
I
Decrmber 30, _'00-1 :ISSOCI.4TED EdRTF!SC/Ei\'CES, l:VC.
 /,'iFdf-KE0:68Id+.l'roecul7WJh,9lA'Elll.p Page 1
