These buildings were being processed through
the abatement program earlier m the year until demoli6on permtts were issued for
them.
The beavers on Silver Iake are cut6ng down trs around the lake. On this property in
particular, the beavers have cut down one tree which fell across the dilapidaced
buildings situated on the water which have demo permits out on. An inspecGon of the
damage caused by the fallen tree was conducted and at that time I noted that the
beavers aze worlang on two other trees right next to the one they already cut down.
ofthe propeRy and advise him of thepotgential d'eswction oottre bui d ngs on his
PnY•
When th owner asked what he could do to stop the beavers, I explained that placement
,, af chicken w+re uound the base of the trees would prevent any further damage to the
trees oy the beavers.
An inspec:tiun cn January 11, 1994 revealed that the owner has not taken steps to stop
' the beaves and they have continued to work on the other two trees. Tiere is a
• possibility of these treEs falling into the path of vehicle traffic on 19th Ave SE.
Therefore, I notified the Parks Dept. today of the probiem so they can take a look at
i the trees and determine if the trees can be salvaged or need to come down to prevent
any disaster from occurring.
md
