SPECIFICATI03S <br />i ILTE1 PLANT <br />The OEP filter plan% specified under this section shall be of <br />the pressure diatom.'cam earth type manufactured by Swimquip, <br />1". The filter plant shall be a product of a company regularly <br />engaggd in nanufacturm of water filtration equipment with a <br />mintn.n of ten years' experience in manufacturing filtration <br />cwoprent for Public swimming pools. <br />Tl.e filter plant shall consist of a filtering unit, face piping, <br />cast bronze unitrol valve, injection molded hydraulic dis- <br />tribution system and element grid ass'y, gauges, XL Series, <br />all bronze recirculating pump and pump strainer all of vhich <br />shall be manufactured and assembled on a structural foam skid <br />6y Swimquip, Inc. <br />The filter plant shall be designed and valved to permit reverse <br />flow, backwashing with Swimquip's unitrol valve. <br />(1) FILTER AREA <br />The filter plant shall have a total effective area of <br />square feet. <br />When operated at 1.512 LPN per square foot of filtering area, <br />this filter plant will have a capacity of filtering <br />Gallons in hours and minutes. <br />FILTEP'TANK <br />The filter tank shall be in diameter and shall be <br />melded of fiberglass with a 'minimum shell and head thickness <br />of 1/4" on 16" diameter, 5/16" on 2U" diameter, 0/8" on 24" <br />diameter. <br />All piping shall be through the side of the filter unit In order <br />ttat the lid may be freely removed without any piping disassembly. <br />Tim fitter tank shall be supported by means of structural <br />foam skid. <br />Tie filter tan: shall be designed for 105 pound minimum <br />bursting pressure and tested at 55 psi In accordance with <br />section x of the ASML boiler and pressure vessel code for <br />fiberglass -reinforced plastic pressure vessels. <br />(3) ELEMENT ASS'y <br />Too element Ass'y shall consist of injection molded filter <br />element grids, collection manifold, support manifold, <br />Lie rods and effluent piping all of which shall be non- <br />corrosive structural materials. <br />The e4exent grids shall consist of an injection molded <br />high impact styrene core with a plain weave polypropylene <br />filter fabric septum. The fabric shall have a porosity of <br />40 CFH per sq. ft. The fabric shall be double heat stitched <br />on the outer perimeter to provide a taut covering. <br />(4) FACE PIPING ) <br />All piping required for the operation of the filter plant shall be <br />included. Piping shall consist of cast bronze unitrol valve con- <br />nected by S.S. band clangs. The operation of the filter and back- <br />wash cycle may be accomplished by the simple manipulation of <br />the valve handle. The unitrol filter control valve shall be fully <br />ported with positive scaling 0-rings on the piston discs. The <br />unitrol valve shall be connected to the tank with band clangs <br />for easy removal. The filter shall be connected to the pump <br />by means of a stainless steel pump connector. <br />(5) RECIRCULATING PUMP AND PUMP STRAINER <br />The pumping unit shall consist of a self -priming single suction <br />centrifugal pump cf the built -together type. The pump volute <br />and seal plate shall be manufactured of bronze especially cast <br />to produce smooth surfaces for water passage. <br />A bronze pump strainer shall be an Integral part of the pump <br />assembly. The strainer lid shall be bronze and secured with <br />manganese bronze "T" head bolts. The seal between the cover <br />and the strainer pot shall be effected by means of an 0-Ring <br />gasket. The strainer baskets shall be molded of hi -temperature, <br />hi -impact styrene with integral lead ballast. <br />The pump impeller shall be an Integral bronze casting of the <br />semi -enclosed type, attached to the motor shaft. A stainless <br />steel shaft seal of the mechanical type shall be provided with <br />ceramic seat and carbon wear ring. <br />A NEMA C faced motor with a drlp proof enclosure shall be <br />bolted to the pump volute. The motor shall be of the capacitor <br />type with silver faced centrifugally operated disconnect switch- <br />ing, and shall he fitted with a themal overload-protectip. <br />of the self -resetting type and a stainless steel shaft. <br />The motor shall be single phase, 60 cycle horse- <br />power for service on 110 or 220 volt electr cai-T supply. <br />The pump and motor unit shall be designed for self -locating <br />assembly, case of maintenance, inspection and service without <br />the use of special tools and without the need to disturb piping. <br />The DIP filter plant as outlined herein shall be Swlnquip <br />No. <br />
