6 <br /> JUSTIFICATION: <br /> 1. Work Change Directive 001 — Engineer of record wanted to add clarity to the specification. <br /> 2. Work Change Directive 002 — On site storage was added for excavated soils and this required <br /> adding drainage from the dam per Department of Ecology, Office of Dam Safety. <br /> 3. Work Change Directive 003 — Electrical duct bank ducts were increased in size to aid in <br /> keeping the facility in operation during construction of Clearwell No. 2 and to provide less <br /> strain on wire when pulling in conductors. <br /> 4. Work Change Directive 004—The 60" and 72" drain lines leaked grout and the 5 Line manhole <br /> took on grout during the pressure grout installation of soil stabilization grout columns. <br /> 5. Work Change Directive 007 —The revision was made to prevent surcharging the manhole <br /> during backwashes. This change also approved a request for a two day time extension because <br /> surcharging of the manhole prevented work in the area. <br /> 6. Work Change Directive 008 — Deductive change was approved by the design engineer. <br /> 7. Work Change Directive 009—The existing channel in the manhole was causing flow <br /> restrictions. <br /> 8. Work Change Directive 010— Provide communication modules not shown in the Contract <br /> Documents. <br /> 9. Work Change Directive 011 — Adding the restrained flex couplings allowed installation of the <br /> backwash pipe within the allotted time. <br /> 10. Work Change Directive 012 — Work change directive 012 provided clarification to the concrete <br /> cover required over Clearwell No. 2 roof reinforcing. <br /> 11. Work Change Directive 013 —Provide adequate concrete cover over Clearwell No. 2 column <br /> reinforcing. <br /> 12. Work Change Directive 014—Adding a butterfly valve outside of the Clearwell provided safety <br /> in the event the valve inside the Clearwell fails open or develops a leak. <br /> 13. Work Change Directive 015 —Grade change was made to improve drainage and <br /> constructability of the Clearwell No. 2 slab-on-grade: <br /> 14. Work Change Directive 016 —Clarified questions about door hardware. <br /> 15. Work Change Directive 017 —The roof hatches of the Backwash Pump Station needed to be <br /> increased is size to allow removal of the backwash pumps. <br /> 16. Work Change Directive 018 —Submitted alternate was accepted by the design engineer with <br /> the offered deduct. <br /> 17. Work Change Directive 019 —Design revision was preferred under the influent weir wall. <br /> 18. Work Change Directive 021 — Restraint of existing pipe had to be confirmed and added if not <br /> provided. The leaking 84-inch pipe would prevent the freeze wall shoring from developing <br /> where water was running. <br /> 19. Work Change Directive 023 —Grease change was requested because the City uses lithium <br /> based grease in all their bearings and it is not compatible with other greases that might have <br /> been provided. <br /> 20. Work Change Directive 024 —Work change directive 024 clarified and made revisions to <br /> addendum No. 1 updating some obsolete equipment. <br /> 21.
