Jan Meston
From: Laura McMurray[qualiagraft@earthlink.net]
nt: Saturday, October 18, 2008 4:09 PM
0: Jan Meston
Subject: Riverside Historic Overlay
Dear Jan Meston,
I just received an email about the proposed Historic Overlay in The Riverside
neighborhood. Please place me on your list to receive information about it.
I believe my place falls in that zone.
I have a few questions.
In general, I think it is brilliant to conserve the historic nature of the area.
1)I am concerned about the ability to make a usable garage on my lot, given that it would
be a corner on Fulton and not possible to create much setback. Is there more detail about
how to handle the "no-alley" situations? (And, by the way, creating such a setback would
just give visual dominance to the huge cinder-block structure next door. )
2) There seems to be a lot of room for in-fill buildings without a plan for parking. With
many homes not having garages, back rental units put pressure on the street parking.
(Spaces are already at a premium near where lots are maxed out. ) This could get really
ugly. How is this dealt with? It seems a little "loose". It almost sounds like it
encourages over-building.
3) With a need to make repairs (at my place) , is there a special commission to help owners
'•'ith materials and decisions? Will owners be allowed to make their properties "green"?
there a report that tells owners what the financial impact is on their ownership?
Thank you so much,
Laura
1
