Bare
root stock is acceptable only in the November through March planting
period or unless unusual local climatic conditions modIN plant dormancy
periods. Bare root plant quantities mey need to bs Increased to provide
adequate plant size and habit characteristics. Contractor shall notify
Environmental Designer AJetland Biologist If bare root plants are being
proposed and bid so that Environmental DesignerAustland Biologist
can determine quantitles or bare root plants.
The environmental dealgner/Ukatland Biologist will Inspect plant materials to
verify confcrme,x:s to the plant schedule and to plart characteristics. The
environmental cesigner /Wetland Biologist reserves the right to require
replacement or substitution of plants that are deemed unsuitable, or in the
case of barci root plants, additional plants Installed at multiples as required
to achieve similar habit characterletice and sizes of containerized and balled
and burlapped plants.
Dig, pack transport and handle all plants with care to ensure protection for
Injury. Repeat process until all voids around root
balls are filled.
Excavate circular plant pits a minimum or 2 times the root ball size with
vertical aides and Install plants as shown on the planting details and backffll
with planting soil. In non -Irrigated areas, add medium grade "Broadleaf P-4"
granular polymer- pellets For all trees and shrubs to ensure moisture retention
and supply during the dry Seaeor.
Following installation or all planting materials, all bases Shell receive two (2)
Inches of mulch. All plant material Installed in a wetland area or area that mey
flood will receive two Inches of compost mulch and plants Installed in buffer
areas that will not flood will receive two Inches or medium grade bark mulch
Mulch materinle shell not contain compounds or materials detrimental to plant life.
Stake all epru, e, cedar, hemlock Douglas fir, maple, and Oregon ash trees.
Contractor shell provide a sample of the transplanter Fertilizer For approval.
Install transplanter type fertilizer (4-2-2) to all plant pits as spacirled by
manufacturer.
Plant all slough sedge, email -fruited bulrush and hardstem bulrush with
weighted peat pots or other methods as required by propogules and
water depths. The environmental deafgrer/ Westland Biologist will assist
In this determination.
Contractor will be responsible For watering newly Installed [ant materials
to leisure survival. The Contractor Is responsible For all p ante and
materials until the formal acceptance or the project. Contractor shall
warrant all plant materials to remain alive and healthy for a period of one
year after completion and acceptance of planting. The Contractor shell
replace all dead or unhealthy plants, per plane and specifications, that are
I-dontiried as requiring replacement by the environmental designer/
Wetland Biologist during the one year warranty Inspection.
Hydrosaed all areas with Barclays Low Grow hydroseed mix (see plant schedule).
as supplied by D.F.
