The Everett Municipal Code requires all property owners within 150 feet or adjacent to a public sanitary sewer shall connect their private sewer system to the public sewer after being notified by the City of Everett Public Works Department. �ur records aiso indicate that your property is adjacent to, or is within 150 feet of an exisiing public sanitary sewer. I have enclosed an excerpt from our sanitary sewer chart indicating the proximity of your property to a public sanitary sewer system. Any costs to connect, including construction and monthly sewer service charges, is to be borne by the property owner. If you believe your residence or business is currently connected to the City's sewer main, please contact the City of Everett Public Works Department at 425-257-8800 so we can update our records. A sewer permit and appiication issued by the City and signed by an inspector is one viable means of proof. Another alternative to prove the structure is connected to the sewer system is to allow the City of Everett to perform a dye test. A dye test requires the owner's permission and the residenYs notification to allow a city employee to en;er the premises and flush dye into the toilet. In a short amount of time the colored water will appear in the sewer main if the residence is hooked up to the sew�r system. In ihe event you are not currenily connected to the sewer and wish to delay connection, the City engineer may, on writte� request from the property owner, extend the time to connect to the public sewer for a period of up to a maximum of 10 years; provided that, at tlie property owne�'s expense, the Snohomish I-leaith District certifies, in writing, to the Public VVorks Department that the exisiing sewage system is operational.
