RESOLUTION NO. 6865 A Resolution Naming the Bruskrud Road Park Parcel "South Everett Forest Preserve" WHEREAS, in September 2012 City Council adopted Resolution No. 6537, A Resolution Establishing a Policy on Public Place Names and Name Changes, which authorizes City Council to designate the names of city buildings, streets, public places, facilities and natural features by resolution; WHEREAS, a final master plan for the Bruskrud Road Park Parcel is anticipated to be ready for City Council consideration in early July 2015, and the project's design will soon thereafter be completed, and WHEREAS, the park does not have a formal name; and WHEREAS, prior to the completion of the master planning task, the department recommends that a name be approved for this park parcel so that it can be incorporated into the final master plan; and WHEREAS, Mayor Stephanson received a proposal from the Parks and Recreation Department to name the entire 15 -acre park parcel "South Everett Forest Park;" and WHEREAS, the name "South Everett Forest Preserve" reflects the forest nature of the parkland, articulates a vision that it is the city's intention to primarily preserve this forested land and its ecological functions, and communicates the location of the site in South Everett; and WHEREAS, the Board of Park Commissioners reviewed this proposal on May -12, 2015, and recommended approval of the proposed name; and WHEREAS, on May 26, 2015, the Historical Commission held a public hearing on the proposal and recommended that City Council approve the name "South Everett Forest Preserve" for the 15 -acre park parcel; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 1. The Everett City Council concurs with the Everett Historical Commission's recommendation to rename the Bruskrud Road Park Parcel "South Everett Forest Preserve"; and
