No groundwater was encountei:ed in the other test pits.
In addition, the test pit excavated _djacent to the northwest
building corner encouritered a nine i ch pocket oE wood chips
approximately three to four feet belaw the footing elevation.
We anticipate that the fills beneakh this site extencl fifteen
(15) to twenty ( 20) feet below existing ;rades and are c,..nposed of
relatively clean, medium dense to Jense, fine sands. Aeneath the
fill, five feet to twenty ( 20) feet of moderately compressible soil
 may be pre.ent.
DISCUSSZON AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on soils encountered in our test pits, and our geotechnical
analysis, it is our opinion that the structure may be built as
planned. Probing in the footing areas indicated that the allowable
bearing pressure of two thousand (2000 ) pounds per square foot (psE)
used in design of the footings is apNropriate. However, we do
recommend that all footings be tied together into a continuous 9rid.
We recommend that, in addition to perimeter footing drains, at
least two lateral drains be placed within the crawlspace area. All
drains, both perimeter and lateral should be placed at least one foot
below the bottom of the footings. The drains should be located a
horizontal distance away from the footings equal to or greater than I
the depth of the drains. These drains should be provided with a pea
gravel filter and should have a positive gradient towards suitable
discharge facilities.
Soils removed from the footing/crawlspace area should not be
replaced in the buil9ing area. In addition, no new fills should be
placed adjacent to the building area.
Settlements due to the placement of the hydraulic fi11s should
have stabi3ized by this time and settlements due to the weight oE the
structure should be wihin tolerable limits. iPe do recommend that
survey points be established on each cornec of the structure and
should be checked as construction progreses. If settlements are
measured on the building, we should be provided with the data Eor
analysis.
M
1
I
Earth Consultants, Inc.
I.
I
1
