This document is intended to serve two primary purposes. The frst is tc <br /> provide code criteria to help coordinate the efforts of the design team with regard to <br /> fire/life safety requirements and cost estimating. The second is to provide the <br /> � Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) witli a tool that will facilitate discussion early on <br /> in the project so that code applications for the project become a collaborative <br /> process. This document was originally prepared during the Schematic Design <br /> ' phase of the project. It has been updated based on design changes and decisions <br /> made by the architect and is based on the 100% Design Developmer.t drawings. <br /> ' PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> ' The Providen�.,e Everett Medi;.al Center New Tower Expansion project consists of <br /> the new additicn of a high-rise patient tower to the existing Providence Everett <br /> ' Medical Center in Everett, Washington. The Tower will be located east of the <br /> existing hospital building and north of the existing Medical O�ce 6uilding (MOB). <br /> The approximate area for the new building is 700,000 square feet. The new To��er <br /> ' will contain 11 levels with a Rooftop Helistop. There will be one level below grade <br /> which will contain a loading dock and support services for the facility. The new <br /> Tower is �ocated on a sioping site and will interface with grade on lwo levels. Level <br /> ' G will interface with grade on the north, south and east sides. Level 1 will interface <br /> with grade on the west side. Levels 2 through 10 will be completely above ground <br /> level. The new Tower will interface with the existing hospital to the west on Levels 1. <br /> ' 2, 3 and 4. The new Tower will interface with the existing MOB to the south on Level <br /> 1. A new Open Parking Garage is also being constructed east of the new Tower. <br /> The Tower will interface with the new parking garage via pedestrian connections on <br /> ' Levels G and 1. <br /> 1 APPLICABLE CODES <br /> This report is based on the fire and life safety requirements found in the 2006 <br /> ' International Building Code (IBC) with Washington State Amendments (WSA), 2006 <br /> International Fire Code (IFC) with WSA and the 2000 NFPA 101 Life Safety Code. <br /> NFPA 101 is required on this project by tlie Joint Commission for Accreditatior. of <br /> ' <br /> 1 <br /> 1 <br />
