RESOLUTION NO. 4282 A RESOLUTION authorizing the application for funding assistance for an outdoor recreation project to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation (IAC) WHEREAS,the City Council of Everett through the adoption of the 1992-97 Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Plan, has recognized the need for the acquisition and development of active recreational lands in the urban area for the purposes of developing youth athletic fields; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Council to pursue acquisition and development of large parcels of land for said athletic field purposes in and around the City of Everett based upon a regional park need for additonal facilities; and WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Washington Wildlife Recreation Program, State and Federal funding assistance has been authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of construction of outdoor recreation facilities by local public bodies; and WHEREAS,the City Council of Everett considers it in the best public interest to develop regional park active recreation facilities in order to meet the growing demand for use in the City of Everett; and WHEREAS,the City of Everett is recognized by the State Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation(IAC) as the principle agency for the development of a Regional park in the City of Everett urban area under the 1992 -97 Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Plan; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council declares that: 1. The Council supports the City of Everett's application for IAC funding for this project; 2. Any funding assistance received shall be used for the development of"East Everett Athletic Fields" Park, an area up to approximately 200 acres of land located in east Everett; 3. The City's share of the project shall be paid from General Fund, and with potential for supplemental funding from Snohomish County; 4. The City hereby certifies that the City is responsible for all non-cash commitments to the local share (for example, volunteered time and in-kind donations) should they not materialize; w:\projects\iacgenl\iaceeve.doc
