a <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 4280 , ` ETT <br /> A resolution expressing support for the re-election of Mayor Ed Hansen to <br /> the Association of Washington Cities Board of Directors District 8 position. <br /> WHEREAS, the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) is an organization that <br /> provides a critical service to cities in Washington state by providing information, <br /> training, workshop, and legislative advocacy with the State Legislature; and <br /> WHEREAS, the AWC is governed by an 18-member Board of Directors which <br /> provides the Association with policy and legislative direction, budget guidance, <br /> and other forms of assistance; and <br /> WHEREAS, this month, during its annual convention, the AWC membership will <br /> be voting to elect and/or re-elect various city elected officials to comprise its 18- <br /> member Board of Directors; and <br /> WHEREAS, Everett Mayor Ed Hansen, with the backing and support of the <br /> Everett City Council, began service this year on the AWC Board in the District 8 <br /> Director position; and <br /> WHEREAS, Mayor Hansen has served the AWC Board and the City of Everett <br /> admirably in this position, working on an AWC Legislative Committee, helping to <br /> formulate Association budget, policy, and legislative approaches, and <br /> WHEREAS, Mayor Hansen has used the expertise he possesses in a wide variety <br /> of areas, with background as an attorney, golf course developer, Board Chairman <br /> and 19-year director of a successful bank, and Chairman and 11-year Board <br /> member of the Snohomish County Economic Development Council (EDC), and <br /> WHEREAS, Mayor Hansen has already shown his ability to make improvements <br /> for the betterment of the City of Everett and the citizens of Everett, including <br /> stabilizing the City budget, helping the City to achieve savings in its health care <br /> program, expanding the City's network of trails, continuing the renovation of <br /> downtown Everett, etc.; and <br /> WHEREAS, Mayor Hansen has already demonstrated his time commitment to the <br /> AWC Board position by attending various meetings, daylong workshops, <br /> conferences, etc., that are required of a Board member; and <br />
