April 6, 2006
PL6'L!C L/llis'/CG
RONALD HESTER
9406 18TH AVE W
EVERETT WA 98204-1426
Re: Connection to Available Public Sewer -- 9406 18TH AVE W
This letter is to inform you that a review of our records indicates that your property may
not be connected to the public sewer system. The Everett Municipal Code requires ail
property owners within 150 feet or adjacent to a public sanitary sewer shall connect
their private sewer system to the public sewer after being notified by the City of Everett
Public Works Department.
Our recorls also indicate that your property is adjacent to, or is within 150 feet of an
existing publc :,anitary sewer. I have enclosed an excerpt from our sanitary sewer
chart indicating the proximity of your property to a pubiic sanitary sewer system. Any
costs to connect, including construction and monthly sewer service charges, is to be
borne by the property owrer.
If you believe your residence or business is currently connected to the City's sewer
main, please contact the City of Everett Pubiic Works Department at 425-257-8800 so
we can update our records.
A sewer permit and application issued by the City and signed by an inspector is one
viable mean of proof. Another alternative to prove the structure is connected to the
sewer system is to allow the City of Everett to perform a dye test. A dye test requires
the owner's permission and the resident's notification to allow a city employee to enter
the premises and flush dye into the toilet. In a:hct drnount or time thP :;olored water
will appear in the sewer main if tl e residence is hooked up to the swer system.
In the evcnt you are not currently connected to the ewe and wish to delay connection,
ihe Gity engineer may, en written request from the operty owner, extend the time to
connect to the public sewer for a period cf up 7c a maximum of 10 years; provided that,
at lhe property owner's expense, the Snohomish Health District certifies, in writing, to
the Public ltiorks Departmerit thut tne ;;xisting sewage system is operational. The
Snohoinish Health District can be ;;ontacted at 425-339-5250; ask for the Wastewater
Diaision. To request a;aiver, please retum the enclosed form.
Everett Municirai Code further establishes that alI properties within 150 feet of an
available p;lic anitary sewer, who fail to connect after notice by the City, shall pay to
i'y OF EVE-RET',' • 3200 Ccar Street • Everett, WA 98201 •(425) 257-8800 • Fax (425) 257-0 32
