The �verett Municipal Code requires that all property owners within 150 feet or adjacent to a public sanitary sewer shall connect their private sewer system to the public sewer after being notified by the Public Works Department. Our r�cords also indicate that your property is adjacent to, or is within 150 feet of an existing public sanitary sewer. I have enclosed an excerpt from our sanitary sewer chart irdicating the proximity of your property to a public sanitary sewer system. Any costs to connect, including construction and morthly sewer charges, are to be borne by the property owner. If you believe that your residence or Lusiness is currently connected to the City's sewe� irain, please contact ttie City of Everet� Public Works Department at 425-257-8800 so we can update our records. Another alternative to prove the structure is connected to the sewer system is to allow the City of Everett to perform a dye test. A dye test requires the owner's permi;�:;ion and the residenYs notification to allow a city employee to enter the premises and flush dye into the toilet. In a short amount of time the colored water will appear in the sewer main if the residence is hooked up to the sewer system. In the event you are not currently connected to the sewer and wish to delay connection, tne City Engineer may, on written request from the property owner, extend the time to connect to the public sewer for a period of up to a maximum of ten (10) years; provided that, ai the oroperty owrier's expense, the Snohomish Health District certifies, in writing, to the Public Works Department that the existing sewage system is operational.
