Improvements <br /> include a new 7,000 square foot playground; a half-court basketball area; new benches, picnic <br /> tables and lighting; improvements to the turf areas to provide multi-purpose open space; new and <br /> wider paths to promote walking and an inclusive park environment; improvements to planting <br /> areas to promote healthier natural areas in the park; and, in collaboration with the Lions Club of <br /> Everett, signage and amenities to assist the visually impaired in their enjoyment of the park. <br /> In response to the call for bids, twenty-three bids were received (attached), ranging from <br /> $734,468.57 to$1,325,000 plus WSST. After a review of bids with the Purchasing Division, the <br /> lowest responsive bidder is Faber Brothers Construction of Lynden, WA. <br /> To date, approximately$176,000 has been expended on the project (design, surveying and <br /> playground equipment). Council award of the contract will leave approximately$227,000 for non- <br /> contractor costs and contingency. <br /> RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): Award and authorize the Mayor to sign <br /> a construction contract with Faber Brothers Construction in the amount of$734,468.57 plus <br /> Washington State Sales Tax for the Lions Park Renovation Project. <br />
