This effort is complete. An outgrowth of those efforts was the establishment of the
Washington Families Fund. The Washington Families Fund funds collaborative efforts between the public
and private sectors to assist homeless families with services. The second phase of The Foundation efforts is
to help homeless families by expanding the purpose of the Washington Families Fund to test and implement
a new county and state level system response that will help end family homelessness in the future. While at
the same time continuing to serve families who are experiencing homelessness right now, the Foundation
will be funding `Pilot Communities"who are King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties. The counties will be
responsible to implement and test the promising practices for ending family homelessness at the county level.
Everett will collaborate with these efforts along with the Everett Housing Authority. The attached
Washington Families Fund Memorandum of Understanding provides a statement of support and interest in
collaborating in this effort.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Authorize the Mayor to sign the Washington Families Fund Memorandum of Understanding
J
